Yiannis Maos, CEO and founder of Birmingham Tech and Birmingham Tech week, provided his expertise from a digital sector perspective and the support out there for organisations.

Our ‘How collaboration has transformed the digital sector’ event was a great success. Yiannis gave an insight into the concept of Birmingham Tech and how it came about. His talk opened with Birmingham Tech’s 3 core values:

1) Foster a collaborative and cohesive tech ecosystem

2) Create a platform for people to celebrate their success

3) Encourage people from all walks of life to get into tech

Yiannis highlighted that the West Midlands was named the country’s fastest-growing tech sector and is predicted to create an additional 52,000 roles in the sector over the next four years. It’s an exciting time, as both established global brands and a new generation of businesses are pushing the boundaries of technology, and making an impact on a regional, national and international scale.

Furthermore, Yiannis said of the thriving and vibrant HealthTech Sector, with the £210m Birmingham Health Innovation Campus (BHIC) due to open in late 2023. This will harness world-leading academic and clinical strengths while bringing new commercial power to the region. Once completed, it will provide a world-leading health innovation and healthcare technologies powerhouse.
